5 things to do every Monday morning to ensure a successful week at work
It's no secret that most people dread Mondays after having a
relaxing weekend. However, if you're passionate about the work you're doing,
Monday isn't a drag - it’s a fresh start.
Each new week brings an opportunity for limitless potential.
No matter what you were facing last week, this is a new one and you can start
it off right with the help of these tips to try every Monday morning.
1. Get an early start.
Getting up early on a Monday morning can seem soul
destroying for some of us (me included) – however an early start can reduce
tiredness during the day because your body is up and running. In this case you
can then arrive at work a little early on to get a jumpstart on your week. You
can then take time to reflect on your priorities for this week and begin making
plans. Getting a to-do list together ensures you are completely ready for the
long week ahead, and there is nothing more motivating than knowing exactly what
you are doing and how you are doing to do it.
2. Set a new goal.
Every Monday you should have at least one goal to reach by
Friday. As you are writing this week’s goal, you should reflect on the previous
one and decide whether it was successful or not. If you struggled with it, how
can you improve with the next one? Discovering your own strengths and weaknesses
will help you develop a better work ethic.
3. Schedule meetings for the week.
You may find that calendars are usually pretty open at the beginning
of the week, so Monday is the perfect time to schedule meetings with your team.
Whether it is just a catch up with their work-load, or even for a simple chat;
face-to-face time with your colleagues is important to keep a well-established
professional relationship going. This therefore helps hold a great deal of
respect between you and your colleagues.
4. Show appreciation.
Appreciation is an important factor to have within the
workplace. Every Monday you should aim to thank one or two colleagues for a job
well done. Your praise will motivate your colleagues, making them happy with
their own Monday morning. This gratitude can be shown through many different
ways, such as by sending a quick email or even buying a small gift. You’ll be
surprised how much happier the workplace can be with a little respect floating in
the atmosphere.
5. Assess upcoming challenges.
You know how work goes, you complete one challenging task
and then another one pops out of nowhere. Take a moment on Monday every week to
think about what problems need to be solved before it becomes too stressful to
cope with. Small distractions can easily side-track your business and then
before you know it your workload backs up leaving you with a heavy to-do list
already waiting for you next Monday morning. And this is the last thing you
want.
Adding these simple tips to your Monday routine can help you
quickly discover that Monday can be an enjoyable day to look forward to. In no
time you will see that your week at work is becoming more and more successful
with planning, precision and a healthy attitude.
